Laminated Plywood and CNC Cutting in Devon and Cornwall

We press high pressure laminate (HPL) onto plywood and MDF at our workshop in Plympton, Plymouth, then cut the boards to your sizes on CNC and band the edges. Across Devon and Cornwall, from Plymouth and Exeter to Truro, you can collect your order free from the workshop or have it delivered on a pallet.

Boards pressed to order

Every sheet is 2440 × 1220mm and pressed to order, with a normal turnaround of two weeks from order. We laminate both faces as standard so the boards stay flat. The laminate is 0.7 to 0.9mm thick, about 0.8mm per face, and there are 750+ decors to choose from, by Formica, Egger, Polyrey, Merinolam, Altofina, Geaves and Stylam.

Our 13mm lightweight ply finishes at about 14.6mm, so it’s the board many suppliers sell as “15mm lightweight”. More in our guide to laminated plywood weights.

CNC cutting and edge banding

Send us a cutting list or a DXF drawing and we nest the parts onto whole sheets to make the most of each board. Our quote comes with a sheet layout showing how the parts fit, and you can keep the offcuts if you want them. We can work from a sketch too, though it takes longer and the quote will say so. We band straight edges by machine with colour-matched edge banding, on boards up to 50mm thick, in the same job as the cutting. Curved parts can be banded by arrangement, but they take a lot longer, so ask us first. Cutting and banding are both priced on quote. Our cut to size and CNC cutting pages have the details.

Collect free from Plympton

You can collect free from our workshop at 17 Easternwood Road, Langage Industrial Estate, Plympton, Plymouth PL7 5ET. Full sheets need a van or trailer that takes 2440 × 1220mm, and the table above will help you check your vehicle can carry the load. The 15mm and 18mm sheets are a two-person lift. Opening hours: Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm, Friday 8am to 12 noon. Closed at weekends.

Pallet delivery

If you’d rather not collect, we deliver by pallet across mainland UK, including Devon and Cornwall. We send boards a long way too, with regular orders going to the Lake District and Scotland. Have someone on hand to help carry the sheets in when it arrives.

What our boards suit

• Campervans. Lightweight ply keeps the weight of the furniture down. A sheet of 13mm lightweight ply weighs about 23kg, against 36kg for 15mm birch. See our campervan furniture boards.
• Furniture. Cupboards, wardrobes and shelving, cut to size with the edges banded.
• Worktops. Birch ply with the edge left on show is a popular look, as the layers are clean and even.
• Shopfitting. Counters, displays and wall panels with a hard-wearing laminate face.
