HPL Laminated MDF

High pressure laminate bonded to MDF, pressed to order in Plymouth. MDF is flatter and heavier than ply, with no grain and no voids, so it’s the steady choice for shopfitting, displays and anywhere a perfectly flat face matters more than weight. 15mm or 18mm, in any of our 750+ decors.

HPL MDF and melamine-faced MDF

Most “laminated MDF” for sale is melamine-faced: a thin decorative paper soaked in resin and pressed straight onto the board. High pressure laminate is a separate sheet, around 0.7 to 0.9mm thick, made from layers of kraft paper and a printed face fused under heat and pressure. We then bond that sheet to the MDF.

Full sheets are 2440 × 1220mm. Prices are for Formica plain colours, + VAT; other ranges vary, and every decor shows its own price in the shop. Weights are approximate. Laminated both sides.

Where MDF works best

Shop counters and displays, routed and machined details, and furniture that stays inside a dry building. It machines cleanly, so it suits CNC-cut parts with grooves and pockets. In a van or anywhere damp, or where weight matters, choose birch or lightweight ply instead.

An MDF edge needs finishing. We band it in a colour that matches the face. See edge banding.
